Mi Casa Project
The existing building at 870 E 8th Avenue has become aged and our society was faced with heavy upgrades and major maintenance costs over the next ten years. The society was led to make financial decisions, and new development planning was consented to proceed with a rezoning process for a new affordable housing development. The proposed development will have 52 mixed units for rent, including 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms, to house a diversity of seniors, and a mixture of moderate to low income families.
Current Site
Our society’s experience has worked toward the structural and communal design features, to maximize the property area, and give the impression of a reduced scale structure with a warm mix of wood and metal siding on the building’s exterior.

Other features are:
- Communal Gardens
- Underground Parkade
- Playground
- Multiple Private and Public Entrances
Green and Sustainable
Our society has been diligent in meeting the City’s current Green Building Policy for Rezonings.
- Enhanced Building Envelope for thermal performance
- High Performance Windows
- Energy Efficient Lighting
- Auto Regulated Light Controls
- Demand Controlled Ventilation
- Low Exterior Lighting
- Energy Star Appliances
