What is Home?

Children speaking about what is home to them.
In April 2013, Red Door housing Society and Entre Nous Femmes took part in the first Advocacy Day for affordable housing on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, organized by the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association (CHRA). We were to meet with politicians to discuss the need for the federal government to once again engage itself in making accessible, affordable housing more available to all Canadians. We decided that instead of presenting endless statistics and research papers to the politicians we met with, we needed something that really got to the ‘heart’ of the matter—what better way than to have children explain, in their own words, what having their own room, in their own home, means to them? We hope this video touches your heart, too, and gives you some food for thought on how you can help make affordable housing a reality in Canada for all families in need.
